Auburn has gone into Penn State’s backyard and flipped a major target.
Nazareth (Pa.) High quarterback Peyton Falzone announced his commitment to Auburn on Thursday. The 6-foot-5, 208-pound passer initially gave his verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions back in April, and this change of heart, at least on the surface, looks right out of the blue. Falzone was reportedly a frequent visitor in State College following his commitment, even participating in Penn State’s White Out camp last weekend. Auburn didn’t even offer Falzone a scholarship until earlier this month.
But things moved quickly for Hugh Freeze and his Tigers. Falzone told 247Sports’ Tom Loy that he and his family liked the “blend of elite football and high-level academics,” as well as a “strong tradition of faith and family running throughout the university and the community.”
The commitment is a major shot in the arm for Auburn, which saw its 2026 class dwindle to just 5 known commitments earlier this week. Falzone is the second prospect to join the class in the last 3 days, giving Auburn 7 known commitments in the cycle.

— Peyton Falzone (@PeytonFalzone) June 26, 2025Falzone is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s rated as the sixth-best recruit from the state of Pennsylvania and the 18th-best quarterback in the class. In the national player rankings, Falzone is No. 246 overall.
A dual-threat quarterback, Falzone also competes in track and field as well as swimming competitively. He has an 11.05-second time in the 100m and a 39.48-second time in the 300m hurdles. As a first-year starter for Nazareth in the fall of 2023, Falzone threw for 2,528 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 11 scores on the ground. Last fall, he was the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Offensive MVP after throwing for 2,135 yards, running for 697 yards, and scoring 31 total touchdowns. He has just 4 interceptions in each of the last 2 seasons while completing 56.8% of his throws.
Without Falzone, Penn State still has a top-10 class, but the Nittany Lions are down a quarterback. San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills passer Troy Huhn is still committed to the Nittany Lions, however. Huhn recently competed in the Elite 11 Finals.
