First Alert Weather: Yellow Alert for possible gusty storms & heavy rain Friday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert remains up for the potential for some stormy weather on Friday, specifically during the afternoon and evening hours. A warm front lifting through the region early Friday morning will pump in more moist and unstable air, which will likely lead to at least a few storms. Temperatures climb into the 80s and dew points into the 70s. There are still some questions regarding how strong these storms may get, and the specific timing of them, but our best chance for stronger storms appears to be during the afternoon hours with peak heating, and in the Finger Lakes. The air will be a bit more stable downwind of Lake Erie, keeping storm chances lower west of Rochester. If and when any storms develop, they could produce some isolated gusty winds and the potential for heavy rain and localized flash flooding. A cold front moves through Saturday, with some showers and storms continuing in the morning into early afternoon, before clearing out the rest of the afternoon. Once again, the Finger Lakes will have the best chance of a few storms with some downpours. So, the second half of Saturday should see fair weather, and that will continue into Sunday. Sunday will feature a partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky and temperatures in the 80s with lower humidity.
