A man was killed Wednesday in an accident involving heavy machinery at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Granada Hills.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 14747 San Fernando Road at 9:25 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A piece of heavy machinery overturned, resulting in the man’s death, the department reported.
His identity was not immediately released, but news reports from the scene indicated the victim was male.
According to ABC7, a backhoe apparently fell onto another machine the victim was operating, killing him instantly.
