NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — The race is on in New York City for mayor, and the following 11 candidates are on the ballot:
Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo Zohran Mamdani City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams City Comptroller Brad Lander Scott Stringer Zellnor Myrie Whitney Tilson Michael Blake Jessica Ramos Paperboy Prince Selma BartholomewNew York City is using rank choice voting. Instead of choosing one candidate, voters rank multiple candidates in order of their preference. If a candidate is selected as the first-choice candidate by more than 50% of voters, they win.

Polls closed at 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Preliminary results should indicate voters’ first choices between the candidates, but tabulations won’t start until July 1 as the city waits to count the mail-in ballots.
