AN MLB star had to leave a game and go to the hospital after being hit in the head by a foul ball.
The MLB player was forced to undergo CT scans to determine the severity of the injury.
On Monday night, the Washington Nationals were up 2-0 against the home team San Diego Padres, in the top of the fourth inning.
Nationals designated hitter Josh Bell was up to bat against Stephen Kolek, who threw a 91-mile-per-hour cutter to the batter.
Bell made contact with the ball and fouled it off directly into Washington’s bench.
The Nats coaches could be seen laughing at the moment, but catcher Keibert Ruiz was then shown during the game’s broadcast heading down to the locker room.
The rocket of a foul ball did hit catcher Ruiz in the head.
The 26-year-old could be seen holding his head above his right eye while heading to the locker room in pain.
Bell ended up hitting a sacrifice fly during the at-bat where Ruiz was hit, and Riley Adams took Ruiz’s place behind the plate.
After Washington beat the Padres 10-6, Nationals manager Dave Martinez spoke to reporters and revealed Ruiz left Petco Park for further evaluation at a nearby hospital.
“The ball hit him pretty solid on the side of the head,” Martinez said.
“We all ducked and when we went down, we kind of got scared a little bit.
“He had a nice lump on the side of his head.
“A little concern right now. Hopefully, he comes out of it OK.”
Fast forward to Tuesday, and the Nationals have yet to officially confirm Ruiz’s status.
But TalkNats has reported the team is expecting to place Ruiz on the seven-day concussion IL and send up Drew Millas from Triple-A to replace him.
It’s the second time in less than a week that a player has been injured by a foul ball while being in the dugout.

He was carted away and brought to a medical facility.
Biggie was released from the hospital on Saturday.
