Australia will begin their ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign on Wednesday against the West Indies at Barbados. The Aussies were the finalists of the last WTC final, which was held on the 11th of June at Lord's.
The men with baggy green are often considered one of the greatest sides to have featured in red-ball cricket and won the WTC final back in 2021-23. Australia begins its new WTC cycle with a test series against the West Indies.
In a recent media interview, Shamar Joseph sent a direct message to Sam Konstas, saying, "Just look out, that's all."
The youngster might not have made any response to this remark, but it irked former Aussie wicket-keeper Ian Healy, who immediately poked Shamar Joseph, making mockery of the West Indies paceman.
“OK, Shamaar well you’ve delivered crap all year. So he better improve, that’s what I’m saying in the dressing room. He’s got real trouble. You’re not Curtly Ambrose champ,” said Ian Healy to the West Indies speedster.
Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith miss out on the test tour to the West Indies
Aussie greats Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne were part of Baggy Green's playing 11 in the WTC Final. Labuschagne was seen in a completely new role as an opener in the red-ball side alongside Usman Khawaja.
Labuschagne, who was already in a major dip in form since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, missed out on runs this time around as well. Steve Smith, the Australian veteran, has surpassed the 10000-run mark in the longest format of the game; however, owing to a recent injury, he has opted out of the test tour to the West Indies.
Marnus Labuschagne has missed the cut for the West Indies tour, as the player's unconvincing form has resulted in his drop. However, the Aussie batter will be a part of the Glamorgan side in the English county, thus giving him some breathing space and opportunity to improve his technique and restore his fine touch.

Shamar Joseph, a Guyanese cricketer who represents the West Indies internationally, made his red-ball debut back in 2024 against Australia. He was among the several uncapped players named in the West Indies test squad for the tour.
Shamar Joseph made the most remarkable start to his test career, dismissing Aussie veteran Steve Smith for just 12 runs on the very first delivery of his career. A dream debut for the West Indies paceman as he picked up a five-fer on his test debut.
Shamar Joseph went on to pick 13 wickets in the two-match series and was named the player of the series for his stunning performance with the ball. He was also named the Player of the Month by the ICC for January 2024.
As of now, the speedster has picked up 36 wickets in 8 test match appearances and would be looking forward to an exciting summer ahead.
Sam Konstas returns for Australia in international test cricket
Sam Konstas, the 19-year-old Australian opening batsman, has earned the attention of cricket fans by playing some remarkable innings in the domestic games of Australia.
Post his tremendous success, he was called in to replace Nathan McSweeney in Australia's test squad for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Having made his debut against India, he immediately launched an attack on legendary pacer Jasprit Bumrah, the bowler feared most by the greatest batsman in today's world. Konstas played for the Kangaroos in the fourth and fifth tests of the BGT and gathered 113 runs at an average of 28.25.
Konstas was not picked for the Sri Lanka test after the BGT ended in favor of the Aussies.
However, now with the unavailability of two of their best batters on display and some restructuring needed for the upcoming WTC cycle, Sam Konstas has been named in Australia's test squad traveling to the West Indies.
This is a golden opportunity for the youngster to fill the void of the Australian opening batsman.
