Prince Harry has not extended any invites to the upcoming 2027 Invictus Games to his family — and there’s a legitimate reason why.
Inviting people to the Invictus Games is not the responsibility of the Duke of Sussex, but is the responsibility of the Birmingham 2027 team, Us Weekly can confirm. (The Games will be held in Birmingham, England.) Additionally, Us has confirmed that, at this time, no invitations have been sent to anyone, from athletes to military members and including friends and family of Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
On Saturday, June 21, reports surfaced claiming that the Duke of Sussex plans to send invitations to the 2027 Invictus Games to his father, King Charles III, and his brother Prince William amid their ongoing estrangement.
Us has reached out to representatives for King Charles III and Prince William for comment.
Prince Harry Officially Arrives in London: Will He See King Charles?
Harry has been estranged from his family since he and Meghan chose to officially step back from senior royal duties in January 2020. The intervening years included disagreements and disputes between several family members, the birth of Harry and Meghan’s daughter Princess Lilibet, the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the family’s move from the U.K. to Canada and then California, dual cancer diagnoses for Charles and Princess Kate, and the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare.
(Harry and Meghan also share son Prince Archie, who was born in May 2019 when the pair were still senior working royals.)

There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry told BBC News. “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” Harry continued, nothing that he has “forgiven” them.
But Harry also reiterated his belief that his father could step in and help him secure protection for himself and his family, should they travel to the U.K. “There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” Harry added. “Ultimately, this whole thing could be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts [to] do what is necessary.”
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” Harry also said in his BBC interview. “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.”
