Bangladesh is currently on its tour to Sri Lanka for an extended series across all three formats of the game. Having started the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka drew the first test.
The second test is scheduled to be played from the 25th of June, as the Bengal Tigers are now revamping their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series, which will begin on the 2nd of July.
Bangladesh has made five changes to their squad for the upcoming series, and Litton Das, the experienced campaigner, has been brought back into the side. The selectors have also named Mohammad Naim, Shamim Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, and Tanvir Islam to the squad.

As clarified by Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain, Litton was dropped after being named the Bangladesh T20I skipper. Das could accumulate only 35 runs in 8 ODI games between 2023 to 2024, as a result of which he was dropped from the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
However, now with veterans like Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, and Mushfiqur Rahim having retired from the ODI format, Litton Das will be considered one of the most experienced names on the ODI side.
"Litton Das was in a bad patch but time is the best healer. He is the T20 captain, so we can consider him till the next T20 World Cup," said selector Ashraf. "If someone has to return to form, it is best to spend a long time in the middle. We feel that Litton can take his form from ODIs to T20Is."
Bangladesh selector clarifies reasons behind other picks in the ODI squad
Alongside Litton Das, the Bengal Tigers have also named opening batter Mohammad Naim, all-rounder Shamim Hossain, and two pacers Hasan Mahmud and Tanvir Islam, to the side.
Ashraf clarified that Naim convinced the selectors with his performance in the Dhaka Premier League and has been picked over Soumya Sarkar due to the latter's lack of form throughout recent games. He will play his first ODI since 2023.
The additional pacers will relieve frontline seamers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana of an immense workload. They will now have 5 pacers, Mushfiqur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, and Tanvir Islam.
