At least 20 people have been killed and 52 injured in a suicide bombing at a church near Damascus, the Syrian health ministry has said.
The attacker entered Mar Elias Church in the Dweila neighbourhood during a service and opened fire with a weapon, Syria’s interior ministry said in a statement.
He then detonated an explosive vest, the ministry said, claiming the suicide bomber was affiliated with the jihadist group Islamic State (IS).
The group has not commented on the attack.
