The private wake took place at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Madison Avenue. About 100 of Burrell's closest family and friends were in attendance to pay their respects to the celebrity chef who died days earlier.
According to the New York Post, Claxton found Burrell on the floor of her home in Brooklyn on Tuesday, June 17 around 8 a.m. local time. Claxton called 9-1-1, but the Worst Cooks in America host was said to be "dead on arrival."

Though Burrell's cause of death is still unclear, some new details have been reported. For example, a source told the New York Post that Burrell's body was found next to "dozens of pills." It's still unclear if Burrell had any medication in her system as a toxicology report is pending.
Burrell's death is still under investigation, though authorities do not suspect foul play.
Claxton and Burrell's family released a joint statement following the tragedy.
"Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered," her family said in a statement given to People. "Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal."
Burrell and Claxton tied the knot in 2021.
