Mrs. Vickie Morgan ended her earthly journey with her family at her bedside at 5 a.m. Saturday morning June 21, 2025 at the home of her daughter on Vaden Lane in the Maggart Community following a brief illness of cancer. She was pronounced deceased at 6:10 a.m. by Gentiva Hospice of Livingston who was assisting the Morgan family with her care. Mrs. Morgan was 61.
Mrs. Morgan had requested to be cremated and the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home is facilitating that at Cumberland Family Services in Algood. The family will hold a private graveside service and burial of the cremains at the Thompson Family Farm in the Maggart Community.
Born Vickie Watts in Chattanooga in Hamilton County, Tennessee on July 23, 1963, she was the only daughter and middle child of three children of the James Harold Watts Sr. and the late Shelba Dean Payne Foote who died at the age of 49 on February 28, 1993.
Two brothers preceded her in death, James Harold Watts Jr. and Chucky Ray Watts who died at the age of 54 on November 6, 2016.
Mrs. Morgan was a non-denominational Christian and attended high school at the Lookout Valley High School in Chattanooga.
Mrs. Morgan was a dietician for The Pavilion in Lebanon before retiring on February 5, 2025 due to ill health.
She is survived by her four children, Terry Swicegood and wife Melanie of Carthage, Sonya Thompson and husband John of the Maggart Community, Kimberly Swicegood of the Dixon Springs Community, Amber Plummer and husband Billy of Carthage; the father of her four children, Jimmy Swicegood of the Hogans Creek Community; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
