Texas is making waves on the recruiting trail.
The Longhorns earned a major recruiting win on Saturday afternoon, landing 4-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland out of the class of 2026. He chose the Longhorns over SEC powers like Georgia and Florida, amongst others.

He’s the No. 141 overall player and the No. 18 defensive lineman in the country for the 2026 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 8 player from the state of Alabama.
Cleveland took an official visit to Austin earlier this month. He also visited North Carolina, Georgia and Florida prior to making this decision. He was initially offered by Texas way back in April of 2024.
Cleveland is a former Alabama commit, but he backed off of his pledge to the Crimson Tide in December of 2024.
Texas now has 14 commits in the class of 2026. The group, led by 5-star quarterback Dia Bell, ranks No. 12 nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings. Cleveland is now the third-highest ranked recruit in Texas’s 2026 class so far.
