A glowing assessment of Lamine Yamal is the clearest indication yet of how badly Marcus Rashford wants to join Barcelona.
The Manchester United outcast is available for £40million, although talkSPORT understands the club may be forced to put Rashford on loan once again should no-one stump up the desired fee.
Rashford‘s advisers have held talks with Barca sporting director Deco and a loan package could suit the Spanish giants.
Should that eventuate, it would mean Rashford gets to play alongside Yamal, something the 27-year-old would be extremely excited about.
In a video with Spanish YouTube channel xBuyer, Rashford was asked about the prospect of one day calling the teenage superstar a teammate.
“Yeah, sure,” Rashford said.
“Everybody in the world wants to play with the best. So hopefully, we’ll see.”
Having watched Yamal’s rise to stardom from afar, it has certainly left its mark on Rashford as he struggled to verbalise how good the Barcelona ace is at the age of 17.
“He’s playing at the highest level, I don’t think we’ve seen it,” Rashford said.
“To have his mentality is a skill. He’s not normal to be doing what he does and will keep improving.”
Should Rashford move to Barcelona, he wouldn’t have to compete for a starting berth with Yamal as the 17-year-old operates on the right flank.
Instead, Rashford would likely battle it out with Raphinha to start on the left wing.

Rashford may not have just Raphinha to contend with either, as multiple outlets claimed Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who is also a left winger and a close pal of Yamal’s.
With Barcelona’s left wing options about to be stacked, it could leave Rashford’s dream move in tatters.
However, Rashford revealed he has warmed to the idea of playing as a striker rather than his preferred role of left wing in an attempt to highlight his versatility.
“For me as I’ve got older, the number nine position is becoming more comfortable, more natural,” Rashford said.
“Things like playing with back to goal is becoming easier for me, you’re always in front of the goal and always dangerous.”
GettyThe England international is believed to have no future at Old Trafford[/caption]Further fuelling a potential switch to Barcelona, Rashford then admitted his love for Spain.
He remarked: “Spain is nice, it’s not too far from home.
“If I’m training over a long period, my family can come for a few days, it’s a nice location and good weather.”
Rashford will be hoping the form he displayed while on loan at Aston Villa will convince suitors he is worth the investment.
The 27-year-old joined the Villans on a six-month loan in January and was first used as a left-winger by manager Unai Emery.
But Emery soon moved Rashford into the striker role as Ollie Watkins was consigned to the bench.
Rashford will have to find a new home next seasonGettyUnfortunately Rashford’s 24/25 campaign was brought to a premature end after he picked up a hamstring injury in late April.
In his 17 outings for the Villans in all competitions, he chipped in with four goals and six assists.
Prior to joining Villa, Rashford had not featured in any of United’s last 12 games.
