The Weld County Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the death Friday afternoon of an inmate at the Weld County Jail in Greeley.
Weld County Sheriff’s Office detention deputies found a 52-year-old male inmate suffering from what appeared to be a medical episode just before 1:45 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from CIRT public information officer Kristen Duus with the Greeley Police Department.
Sheriff’s deputies administered CPR to the man, and they requested medical staff and paramedics. The inmate was pronounced dead.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the man, pending the notification of next of kin.
No additional information will be released until the completion of the investigation. The investigation is being led by Commander Ryan Shippy with the Ault Police Department. Shippy may be reached via email at [email protected].
