IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. – The republican candidate for Irondequoit Town Supervisor and former Town Assessor, Anthony Costanza, is facing charges of official misconduct.
Along with official misconduct, Costanza is also facing charges including conflict of interest, recusal and abstention, and prohibition on use of municipal position for personal or private gain, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
In court papers, the Monroe County District Attorney states that on April 9, 2024, Costanza “committedan act relating to his office but constituting an unauthorized exercise of his official functions,knowing that such act was unauthorized.”
They also state he “willfully used his municipal position or official powers and duties to secure afinancial or material benefit” for a relative, an organization he was involved in, or himself.
In a statement from Costanza, he denies all allegations of wrong doing and is calling them “politically motivated.” Here is the full statement Costanza provided to News10NBC:
“I categorically deny all allegations of wrong doing. The evidence will show I executed my duties as the Town of Irondequoit Assessor within all laws and beyond reproach. These charges are 100% politically motivated. I look forward to my day in court. A full statement will be provided on our website in the coming days.”
