Won by four lengths to Vlad on debut at Newmarket when heavy odds-on favourite.
Clearly suits the step up to 7f and of course will need something special to beat Moments Of Joy, the juvenile dominant team of Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore, who’ve won the first three juvenile contests.
That said, the Charlie Appleby team will bounce back at some point and one of these two-year-olds is sure to be the best of the bunch for the stable.
William Buick has still been winning at the meeting too, only on the John & Thady Gosden-trained horses, so is sure to get things right soon on these promising horses.
Rebel’s Romance
Won 14 Stakes races from a possible 20. That’s an incredible record.
None more so that his earnings have exceeded £10m now as the globetrotting winner from Godlphin has won all over the world including the £2m prize at Del Mar, the Breeders’ Cup Turf.
It’s tough to side Charlie Appleby and William Buick who’ve been unlucky at Royal Ascot at times, without a winner for quite some time.
But this should be the one to break the duck as this horse has yet to take part at Royal Ascot, and could put on a show.
Inisherin & Satono Reve
A few international entries in this, the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes including the Japanese owned and trained Satono Reve.
A horse that attracted some support on Thursday and makes plenty of appeal with his record of eight wins in just 13 attempts.
And three of those losses have seen him place 2nd twice and 3rd.
Will handle the good to firm, will handle the heat well and may be one to note under Joao Moreira who will likely be well-supported abroad.
There’s a couple of French raiders too, all of which are looking to scoop over £500k.
Khaadem has won this twice in the last two years at the ages of seven and eight, the first of which was at a massive price of 80/1.
Some shorter priced winners do somewhat dominate the usual winners though and they’re the ones to note here too.
Inisherin has course and distance and Royal Ascot form, with a win here 12 months ago.
He won on reappearance after a wind op and 249 days off at York in the Group 2 Clipper Stakes and makes huge appeal likely to be back to his best if not better now.
Seagulls Eleven
This isn’t one Aidan O’Brien tends to win, in fact it’s usually quite open.
Haatem won last year at 7/2, Noble Truth 4/1 in 2022, and Malatham 11/2 in 2020.
California Dreamer is one to note at 8/1 each-way, the filly was second in the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas.
But her inconsistency on the turf is something to potentially make her tough to back in general.
I quite like Seagulls Eleven at a huge price of 16/1 as he could surprise a few after a couple of disappointing placings which skews his written form slightly.
Both of those races have been in very valuable Group 1 races in which he stepped up to 1m for the first and second time and each time ran far too keenly.
He’s also placed fairly close up in two Group 1s in 2024 as well as a close second to Ancient Truth in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes.
Now gelded, which came just three days after the Newmarket run, he could settle much better and give Hugo Palmer a huge win.
Purosangue & More Thunder
So many of these have form behind More Thunder including Purosangue, which only strengthens both cases.
two are next to each other in the stalls, with a high draw which has seemingly been beneficial this year in these kinds of big fields.
Purosangue was just two lengths behind More Thunder at Newmarket, but has been dropped 2lb for that while the winner has received a 6lb rise.
That gives a fair few of them who’ve been in behind more opportunities too.
But More Thunder has just continued to beat these horses, taking the rise in weights in his stride the last twice.
And better still he’s so unexposed over 6f that there could well be more improvement yet.
As for Purosangue there’s a few reasons to back him each-way, even if just hoping for place returns.
He’s got Oisin Murphy on board who’s been flying recently including at Royal Ascot, trainer Andrew Balding has a solid recent strike rate in the 20 percentile, still looking to benefit from being gelded, and is quite consistent: 14 runs he’s been in the top three eight times.
