Meghan Markle is finally spilling the tea about public life, and it’s scalding. In a revealing interview on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about how she’d rewrite her public narrative if given the chance, and what she’d say to those who have allegedly been spreading lies about her for years.
Markle shared behind-the-scenes life details with podcast host Emma Grede. They discussed, per a description on the podcast's YouTube page, "pressure, the pivots, and the power of betting on yourself when the world is watching."
Grede asked the duchess, "I wonder if you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch. Is there anything you would do differently?"
The royal revealed, "Yes. I would ask people to tell the truth."

This led the host to respond, "I would get so hotheaded if I felt everyone was lying about me. Is there ever a part of you that wants to say, 'leave me alone?'"
"Peaks and valleys," the royal added. "I've gone through those chapters and have done a lot of work, a lot of self-work, and go, 'what's the why?' It's happening for a reason."
This led Markle to share advice she received from longtime friend, tennis pro and businesswoman Serena Williams, about drowning out outside noise. "She told me years ago, 'A lie can't live forever.'"
The duchess quipped, "Eight years is a long time," referencing the number of years she's been affiliated with the royal family without naming them directly. "But it's not forever."
When asked by Grede how she walks the line between owning her narrative and feeding a media frenzy, Markle said it was about setting "boundaries." She explained she would give that advice to "anyone, no matter what you're going through or no matter what your experience has been."
"You set boundaries where you're comfortable. And it's okay to say no."
The royal concluded, "It's okay to say, 'I'm not comfortable answering that.' It's okay to pivot and to really get to the place where you don't feel you have to explain yourself. I think that comes with time and maturity."
"But also to be authentic," she added, saying that there is no value in being "so rehearsed" before speaking about her viral "baby mama" dance. She revealed the video was taken four years prior, and with all the "noise," there is a "real, fun, authentic life happening behind the scenes" and that she can share it "on my own terms."
