AUSTIN (KXAN) — Fans who got an advance screening of F1: The Movie in Austin had an even bigger surprise waiting for them Wednesday night.
Actor Brad Pitt, who plays a retired Formula One driver who returns to the sport in the film, popped into the Bullock Museum's IMAX Theatre to say hello.
The surprise appearance was caught on video and posted to Instagram. The theatre crowd yelled, "We love Brad Pitt!" as the celebrity sneakily walked down the steps behind them.
Austin has a long relationship with F1. Circuit of the Americas (COTA) has previously hosted the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, and the races return this year in October.
According to F1's website, COTA hosted its first races in 2012, which was the first U.S. Grand Prix since 2007.
The movie will be released to the general public Friday, June 27.
