MasterChef: Generations judges Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Tiffany Derry introduced the first Mystery Box challenge of the season tonight. The Top 11 duos found not one, but two boxes at their station. When they lifted them, they discovered one box contained sweet ingredients and the other spicy ingredients. Each duo had to combine at least two of the ingredients from each box to make a harmonious, MasterChef-worthy dish. What the boxes didn’t contain, however, was the protein.
As the winners of last week’s challenge, Michelle and Zach were given the task of assigning proteins to each of the duos.
The duo with the winning dish got an advantage in the next challenge, while the duo with the worst dish was eliminated in the all-new “Mister-y & Mrs. Box” episode of MasterChef: Dynamic Duos. Here's our spoiler-filled recap of this week's episode of MasterChef.

Who won the MasterChef: Dynamic Duos challenge tonight?
The first duo called up was Jesse and Jessica with their seared prawns with sweet carrot and ginger puree, spicy shrimp, and ‘ndjua jus and mustard greens. The second duo was Rachel & Julio with their seared octopus with patatas bravas, spicy salsa roja and sweet Chambord pickled apples and radishes. The final duo was Tina and Aivan with their Korean-style barbecue short rib with radish kimchi and garlic rice.
The winners were Rachel and Julio. The advantage they were awarded was being able to choose their own teammates in the first team challenge next week.
Who was in the MasterChef: Dynamic Duos bottom three tonight?
Ashley and RickyCourtesy: FOX
The first dish in the Bottom 3 was Azu and Javier, the second was Ricky and Ashley, and the final duo in the bottom was Zach and Michelle, whose plan for assigning proteins definitely backfired on them. But not so much as to get them eliminated. The losing dish was Ricky and Ashley.
“Being eliminated definitely sucks,” Ashley said. “There’s no other way to say it. It looked like an amateur dish. You can’t really hide it."
“I think our big, loud Italian family are going to be proud of us,” Ricky said. “They are not going to hate us because we had one bad dish.”
MasterChef airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
