Briggsdale boil water advisory lifted by state health department

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment lifted a day-long boil water advisory for Briggsdale on Wednesday, according to Weld County.

Weld County posted the update online at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, which was a little more than 24 hours after the state health department issued the advisory.

In the rescinded message, Weld County recommended the following steps for residents once a boil notice has ben lifted:

Flushing all pipes and faucets by running water taps on cold for at least two minutes. Discard any ice in an ice maker. Make at least three batches and discard. Wipe down the icemaker with disinfectant. Run the dishwasher on empty once before filling with dishes.

The original boil advisory was issued by the state on Tuesday afternoon because of an impact to the Briggsdale Water Company following storms in the area Monday night. There was a loss of pressure within the water company distribution system, which can led to disease-causing organisms or bacteria getting into drinking water. At this the point, the state health department will then issue boil advisories.

CDPHE said Tuesday the advisory could be lifted as soon as Wednesday, depending upon the results of tests on water to check for the presence of any disease-causing organisms.
