THE sporting world is responding to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies with protests around the country.

While American citizens march in organized protests like No Kings Day, sports teams are following suit with their own demonstrations.

On Saturday, Angel City FC demonstrated ahead of their game by passing out shirts to fans with the slogan “Immigrant City Football Club.”

On the back of the shirt, “Los Angeles is for everyone” was written in English and Spanish.

Angel City FC also put the shirts up for sale with proceeds going to an immigration organization.

“We are heartbroken by the fear and uncertainty many in our Los Angeles community are feeling right now,” the team said in a statement on social media.

“At Angel City, we believe in the power of belonging.

“We know that our city is stronger because of its diversity and the people and families who shape it, love it, and call it home.”

The players’ unions of the NWSL and WNBA also released a joint statement about Trump‘s immigration policies.

“We stand with all people seeking safety, dignity, and opportunity, no matter where they come from or where they hope to go,” the statement said.

“Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We know not every situation is simple.

“But offering compassion should never be up for debate.”

Across other sports, Los Angeles Dodgers player Kike Hernandez put out his own statement about the protests in LA.

“I may not be Born & Raised, but this city adopted me as one of their own,” Hernández wrote.

“I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city.

“Los Angeles and Dodger fans have welcomed me, supported me and shown me nothing but kindness and love.

“This is my second home. And I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart.

“ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights. #CityOfImmigrants.”

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made his own statement about the “disappointing” actions from President Trump.

“So this is obviously just a classic page out of Trump’s playbook: create a crisis in order to look like you’re solving it, using it as a political win, creating further divide,” he told The San Francisco Standard.

Kerr also said that “protests themselves are as American as apple pie as long as they don’t turn violent.”

While fans and players protest immigration policies, ICE’s outreach has extended within stadiums.

DHS and ICE agents are attending Club World Cup games, causing unrest among spectators.

Customs and Border Protection posted a now-deleted message saying the agency would be “suited and booted for the first round of games.”
