LINCOLNTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Parts of downtown Lincolnton have been placed on lockdown on Tuesday after police received what they called a "credible threat."

The Lincolnton Police Department emphasized with Queen City News that there is no active shooter, and the lockdown is being taken as a precautionary measure.

City administrative offices are closed and secured while officers respond. Police have not confirmed whether they are currently looking for a specific person.

As of now, no injuries have been reported. When asked if anyone was hurt, officials only said, “That's all the information I can report at this time." Authorities are urging the public to stay away from the downtown area while the investigation continues.
