THE Pittsburgh Steelers have made a decision on the future of DeShon Elliott.
Elliott, 28, saw his two-year contract expire at the end of the 2024 season.
The safety was a strong performer last campaign with two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, four tackles for loss and 108 combined tackles.
And the Steelers have now announced that he will stay with the franchise.
They have struck an agreement over a new two-year contract.
The extension is worth $12.5 million – with $9.21 million guaranteed.
Elliott spent his first years as a NFL star with the Baltimore Ravens.
He eventually departed after three seasons following injury problems.
The Texas Longhorns graduate then spent a year each with both the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins.
Elliott’s stay at the Steelers was confirmed soon after the team announced a deal with Aaron Rodgers.
The veteran quarterback has put pen to paper on a $19.5 million agreement – with $10 million of which is guaranteed.
Rodgers‘ move comes after retirement rumors swirled following his exit from the New York Jets.
And Elliott suggested in February that the 41-year-old should have called it a day on his playing career.
He commented on social media about speculation of Rodgers’ arrival at the Steelers, writing: “Leave his a** at the retirement home.”
Though they are now team-mates – potentially setting up an awkward first meeting.
