India to face humiliation? Matthew Hayden, Aakash Chopra and others predict IND vs ENG series scoreline

The stage is set for the much-awaited five-Test series between India and England, and the cricket experts around the globe have already been heating up the contest with their bold predictions. With Shubman Gill leading a young Indian side against Ben Stokes’ experienced England team, fans can hope for a blockbuster and high-voltage drama during the Test series.

Ahead of the five-match Test series opener in Leeds from June 20, the legendary Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden predicted that India could win this series, especially if bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj find their rhythm in the swinging English conditions.

Hayden mentioned that England’s pace battery is not looking that strong after Stuart Broad and James Anderson’s retirement, which gives the tourists an edge in the upcoming Test series.

Matthew Hayden said on Star Sports, “I don't think England fast bowlers are that good. They've got a number of injuries and a number of retirees as well. So that'll be the challenge, though. Northern Test matches, when it's zipping around, that'll be key. And it could well be a series that goes India's way.”

However, Aakash Chopra and Deep Dasgupta have pointed out that India’s transition phase with young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Arshdeep Singh stepping into big roles might give England the edge.

India's transition will give an edge to England!!

The former Indian cricketers and cricket pundits believe that England’s home advantage could make a big difference in the Test series. While Dasgupta predicted a 3-2 series win in favor of England, Chopra avoided the scoreline but backed the hosts to outclass the Indians in the Test series.

In the same video posted by Star Sports on X, Deep Dasgupta said, “It is a young team; it has a young captain. The team is going through a transition, so that will give England a slight advantage, and they have the home advantage as well, but it (the series) will be very close. I'd say 3-2 in favor of England.”

On the other hand, Aakash Chopra noted, “I think England has an edge. They're playing at home, and the Indian team is going through a transition. I think England might just pull this one off.”

Meanwhile, former South African pacer Dale Steyn predicted a 3-2 or 4-1 Test series win for England but warned that every victory will come hard-fought.

Steyn said that India will not go down without a serious fight, saying Shubman Gill’s team can win only a couple of Test matches on the England tour.

The Proteas legend said that every game of the five-match Test series will have a result. Steyn stated, “It's a pretty young team. I probably have to say that England is going to win the series. It's going to be 3-2 or 4-1 in England's favor. But even the 4 are going to be incredibly difficult.”

Sanjay Bangar predicts a 2-2 draw ahead of the Test series

Well, the former Indian pacer Varun Aaron is confident that India will win the Test series, as he noted that both teams have their weaknesses. Aaron said in the video, “I definitely think India is going to win the series. They've got a lot of experienced players. There's a lot of inexperience in the England camp. And also, I'm Indian. So obviously I'm going to back India.”

At the end, the former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that the upcoming Test series will be closely fought, and he predicted a 2-2 draw, thanks to India’s bowling strength and England’s solid batting.

Sanjay Bangar said, “I think it'll be a drawn series. 2-2. Because I believe that the Indian team has a very good bowling attack. Whereas the England team has a comparatively experienced batting line-up.”
