Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Bronwyn Newport announced the death of her father, David Richard Newport.
People magazine reported Newport shared the news with her fans in a June 13 Instagram Story. The Story featured a black-and-white photo of her father, who had Alzheimer's disease. According to the publication, Newport's late father was a resident of a memory care facility.
In her Instagram Story, Newport stated that her father fell on June 10, which led to issues with his health.
"Earlier today we lost my wonderful father, David Richard Newport. On Tuesday he had a fall and since then he has had a series of complications and yesterday, we were told he most likely only had a few days," wrote Newport in her Instagram statement. "It has been a huge shock to lose someone seemingly so suddenly that yet we've been caretaking through such a long illness."
Newport also shared she was by her father's side in the days leading up to his passing.
"I am so grateful to have been able to be by his bedside all week and in his final moments to help both him and my mom. I'm grateful we had some idea what was happening toward the end so much of our family could gather to be with him," wrote Newport.
Newport also said her mother wanted her to let her followers know about her father's passing.
"She wanted me to share so those who knew and loved him could think fondly of him at this time," continued Newport, as reported by People.
Newport joined the RHOSLC cast during its fifth season, which premiered in November 2024. During a January 2025 interview on Watch What Happens Live, Newport spoke about how her dynamic with her husband, Todd Newport, was portrayed in her freshman season of the Bravo show.
"I think both of us are a lot more aware of the way that we talk to each other. And maybe that needs to be more positive," said Newport during the interview.
