As Aaron Rodgers basked in the glow of his recent surprise wedding, sports media personality Skip Bayless was not interested in sending well wishes to the happy couple.
Bayless, 73, took to social media on Tuesday, June 10, to argue that Rodgers, 41, had ulterior motives for revealing he had gotten married “a couple months ago.”
“Aaron Rodgers wore a wedding ring to his 1st Steelers press conference because he wanted the media to know he had pulled one over on ’em — got married ‘a couple of months ago’ without anyone knowing,” Bayless wrote via X on Tuesday. “Her identity remains a mystery.”
Bayless, a former ESPN and FS1 host, added, “Now if only he could still fool defenses.”

Rodgers has been a subject of Bayless’ criticism since it was announced the quarterback signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers actually did it?” Bayless said in a video posted via X on June 5. “They’re actually going to sign washed-up, 41-year-old, finger-pointing, blame-defecting diva Aaron Rodgers? They are? They’re going to allow Aaron Rodgers to steal from the Steelers? You’re kidding. I can’t believe it.”
Bayless continued, “He’s done. When he came back last year, he was done. He hit the wall and then went over the cliff into quarterback retirement hell. He just can’t play anymore.”
Rodgers officially signed a one-year contract with the Steelers worth $13.65 million on Monday, June 9. The deal includes $5.85 million worth of playtime and team performance incentives.
The quarterback previously played two drama-filled seasons with the New York Jets, the first of which was cut short just four plays into the season after Rodgers tore his ACL.
While Rodgers will enter the 2025 NFL season as the Steelers’ new starting quarterback, Bayless argued the team would have been better off going with his back-up, Mason Rudolph.

“Trust me, Mason Rudolph this coming year would be a more effective quarterback than Aaron bleepin’ Rodgers,” Bayless said. “That’s how bad it is for the Steelers. They are now my candidate to plunge. They are now, to me, starting to look like the odds on favorite — especially with the division they play in — for the first pick in the draft next year.”
Bayless added, “This is going to be a disaster and Aaron Rodgers doesn’t care because he’s grifting now. He’s going to steal from the once mighty Steelers.”
Rodgers revealed he had recently gotten married during his first meeting with reporters as a member of the Steelers on Tuesday. The quarterback was noticeably wearing a black band on his left ring finger.
However, he did not reveal the identity of his new wife.
