CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- One person is dead following a crash involving a Charlotte Water vehicle Thursday afternoon, according to Medic and emergency personnel at the scene.
The two-vehicle collision happened near the intersection of Monroe Road and Glendora Drive, close to the Roadway Inn. Multiple crews rushed to the scene shortly after the crash, which involved a gray passenger vehicle and a city-operated Charlotte Water truck.
"We can confirm that a Charlotte Water employee was connected to an accident on Monroe Road near Ashmore Drive this afternoon," Charlotte Water said to Queen City News.

Monroe Road is currently shut down in both directions near Ashmore Drive as investigators work to determine what led to the crash. Police have not said whether charges will be filed.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
