City of Greeley announces board appointments, calls for more applicants

The city of Greeley hopes to fill 16 open seats on boards and commissions that advise the city council on various community issues.

This week, the city announced four appointments in a news release.

    Linda Cannon was appointed to the Civil Service Commission, which oversees the administration of civil service rules and the hiring and promotion of police officers and firefighters.

    Terry Anderson was appointed to the Human Relations Commission, which looks to foster mutual respect and understanding among all members of the Greeley community.

    Rachel Flynn was appointed to the Housing Authority, which works to provide safe, decent and affordable housing opportunities to lower-income families and individuals, free from discrimination.

    Cinque Jackson was appointed to the Housing for All Advisory Board, which works to establish appropriate housing solutions, including options for affordable housing and strategic housing for economic development and population growth.

    Residents are encouraged to apply to any of the 16 vacant seats remaining:

    One seat is open on the Citizen Budget Advisory Committee Two are open on the Commission on Disabilities Four are open on the Human Relations Commission Two are open on the Museum Advisory Board Two are open on the Stormwater Board Two are open on the Youth Commission Board Three are open on the Construction Trades Advisory and Appeals Board, including one requiring a building/construction background and one requiring a mechanical background.

    All residents of Weld County, regardless of background or experience, are encouraged to apply. The city’s release specified the third vacant seat on the Construction Trades board will preferably be filled by a Greeley resident, and the application for all boards and commissions notes preference is given to Greeley residents.

    Interested residents can apply at greeleygov.com/government/b-c/home. The city will accept applications until 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 24. After the deadline has passed, the city will interview applicants the week of July 1, and selected candidates will be appointed at the July 15 council meeting.
