CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A tractor-trailer crash is causing major traffic delays on I-85 North near Tuckaseegee Road Thursday morning, after the vehicle veered into the median, possibly striking support beams beneath an overpass.
The accident happened around 8:54 a.m. near Mile Marker 35. According to initial reports from Medic, one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A NCDOT traffic camera shows the truck off the road in the median, close to the bridge supports. Officials have not yet confirmed whether the structure sustained any damage.
As a result of the crash, one of the four northbound lanes has been shut down near Exit 34, Tuckaseegee Road, and traffic congestion in the area is significant.
Drivers can expect delays, with the closure expected to last until close to 1 p.m. Queen City News has reached out to Medic and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for more details.
