Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski undergoes second surgery of offseason

SAN FRANCISCO — A Warriors starter went under the knife for the second time since the Warriors were bounced from the postseason in May.

The Warriors announced in a Wednesday press release that starting shooting guard Brandin Podziemski, 22, had an operation Tuesday to repair what the team called a “core muscle injury.” He had previously had work done on his left wrist.

The second-year player is expected to be ready for training camp, something Podziemski told the Bay Area News Group a week ago at a recent Valkyries game.

Podziemski averaged a career-high 11.7 points, while also grabbing 5.1 rebounds and dishing out 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 26.8 minutes over 64 games. He became a regular starter after the team traded for Jimmy Butler.

Podziemski is not the only Warriors starter to undergo surgery this offseason. Moses Moody had an operation done on his right hand in May.
