True friendships are hard to come by anywhere, but it feels especially true for artists in the music industry. Amidst the competition and drama, finding someone to lean on is invaluable and that's exactly what legendary country star Randy Travis found in the iconic Charlie Daniels.
Travis and Daniels first met as colleagues in the early '90s, and the two developed a long friendship where even their wives became close. Daniels served as a mentor to Travis, which was especially true after Travis suffered a stroke in 2013.
We can't believe it's been almost 5 years since we lost our dear friend, Charlie Daniels...We're thinking about you today. Your prayers worked, and Randy is grateful to be back on stage after this incredibly special moment! #CountryMusic #CharlieDaniels #RandyTravis

Travis highlighted a tender member between the two when Daniels prayed over him following his injury; it was captioned:
"We can't believe it's been almost 5 years since we lost our dear friend, Charlie Daniels...We're thinking about you today. Your prayers worked, and Randy is grateful to be back on stage after this incredibly special moment!"

Fans offered their condolences and shared their own tributes to him in the comments.
"Charlie Daniels will forever be my favorite artist" shared one viewer. "He was my first concert with Marshall Tucker. He even brought me on stage once when I was 5yrs old and introduced me as his 'biggest little fan.' He was an amazing and Godly man. I remember telling him the first time I met him, 'I want to be a fiddle player like Charlie Daniels.' He told me, 'Darlin I hope you're a better fiddle player than Charlie Daniels.'"
Daniels career really exploded in the '70s, his most iconic hit being "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". He perfectly blended country, blues and rock for a sound that really pioneered a generation. While Travis will likely always be mourning his friend, we hope he continues to share beautiful memories of him and live his life to its fullest in Daniels' honor.
