Country music artist Ashley McBryde has always had an inclination to do things her way. From her nearly full-coverage tattoos to fun and soulful music, McBryde has mastered what it means to stand on her own two legs as an artist. The Arkansas native has been working on building her career since 2006. It took 10 years, but when her 2016 EP was discovered by fellow artist Eric Church, her career in country music really took off.
Time and time again McBryde proved she's had the chops, but at the 2025 CMA Fest, she put her money where her mouth is with a gorgeous cover of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer."
CMA Fest made an excellent decision to not only have Ashley co-host but also to be a performer on main stage! Her performance was the best of the night! People were on their feet!!! Boys of Summer is the perfect cover for any Summer concert! @Ashley McBryde @Country Music Association #fy #fyp #fypシ #nissanstadium #cmafest #donhenley #boysofsummer #coversong #ashleymcbryde #nashville #festivals #cma

"It’s the perfect Summer song and she is the best one to cover it," proclaimed one fan.
"This woman is an artist all around," boasted another.

Henley's 1984 song has been covered by dozens of artists, most notably by The Ataris in 2003. The founding Eagles member got unlikely help from one of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers Mike Campbell after Petty rejected the song due to the heavy use of synthesizers, according to American Songwriter.
McBryde is making her way around the U.S. with some notable tour dates this summer following her CMA Fest performance. She's scheduled from June in Biloxi, Mississippi and ends in Ivins, Utah by November. Known to slip a cover or two into her shows, fans may have a chance of catching this in person.
