Leon Thomas’ ‘Mutt’ Snatches Third Radio Crown of 2025

Leon Thomas’ breakout hit “Mutt” conquers another radio ranking as it climbs to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart (dated June 14).

The single steps from the runner-up spot to become the most-played song on United States panel-contributing rhythmic radio stations in the tracking week of May 30-June 5, according to Luminate. For its coronation, “Mutt” added 7% more spins compared with the previous week’s total.

With its Rhythmic Airplay triumph, “Mutt,” released and promoted through EZMNY/Motown/ICLG, secures its third Billboard radio crown. The track ruled the Adult R&B Airplay chart for two weeks in May and wins a third consecutive term at No. 1 on this week’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

As “Mutt” ascends on Rhythmic Airplay, it knocks Kendrick Lamar’s “Peekaboo,” featuring AzChike, from the chart’s perch after its two-week stay. The former leader, which slides to No. 2 (down 6% in plays), was the record-tying fourth champ from Lamar’s GNX album.

Beyond its current and former chart-topping stats, “Mutt” reverses 2-3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which ranks songs by combined audience totals from adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop stations. Despite the drop in rank, the track improved to 17.3 million audience impressions, up 2% for the week.

Through strong showings across the R&B/hip-hop and rhythmic sectors, “Mutt” rises 18-17 to a new peak on the all-genre Radio Songs chart (up 4% to 31.8 million impressions).

The “Mutt” boost aligns with the first chart week for its parent album’s deluxe edition, titled Mutt Deluxe: Heel. (All versions of the album are combined into one entry for chart and data tracking purposes.) With nine new tracks, Mutt surges 42-8 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and 14-4 on Top R&B Albums, both new peaks. The album earned a new best of 18,000 equivalent album units for the tracking week, up 77% from last week’s count.
