The future of the former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan is in danger with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). LSG had a really forgetful IPL 2025 season under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy, and a major overhaul is in the cards for the IPL 2025.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Lucknow Super Giants head coach will lose his job or not after failing to guide the franchise to the playoffs in the last season, but one thing is clear: they have started preparations for the next IPL season.
A Revsportz journalist revealed that Zaheer Khan’s position is under serious threat. Zaheer, who served as the LSG mentor and bowling coach for the Lucknow Super Giants in the recent IPL 2025, is all set to be replaced by another elite man ahead of the IPL 2025.

It is being said that the Lucknow franchise is in advanced talks to bring in a world-class bowling coach from another IPL team. However, the sources kept tight lips on the name of the person and franchise from which LSG is planning to trade the coach to sharpen their bowling attack.
The journalist also claimed that Zaheer Khan’s departure from the LSG is all but confirmed ahead of the IPL 2026. The former Indian pacer had joined the franchise only before the IPL 2025 mega auction, and only after one poor season, the franchise has reportedly decided to show him the door.

Meanwhile, the 2025 IPL season turned out to be a nightmare one for Lucknow Super Giants, who finished in 7th place in the table. Despite the high-profile addition of Rishabh Pant for INR27 crore, the team failed to build momentum and delivered only a few good performances this season.

According to multiple reports, LSG team management and owner Sanjiv Goenka are not happy with how the season unfolded and the style of Zaheer, whose one-year deal is now unlikely to be extended. Interestingly, Captain Pant and Head Coach Justin Langer are safe now.
LSG managed just six wins in 14 matches, and Pant had a tough season both as a batter and captain. His frustration was visible during several games, and he was even seen in a heated conversation with Zaheer during one match, where his batting order was questioned.
Rishabh Pant ready to shine in England Test series
On the other hand, Pant, India’s new Test vice-captain, is currently gearing up for the five-match Test series against England, starting on June 20 in Leeds. During a practice session at the famous Lord's Cricket Ground, Rishabh Pant was seen hitting big shots against spin bowlers.
While facing Washington Sundar, Pant played a strong slog sweep that showed his amazing power, and the shot was so big that it ended up breaking the roof of the training area. It seems that he is ready to shine with the bat for India in England after a poor IPL 2025 season.
