Bryson DeChambeau to win
In the nine previous US Opens at Oakmont, eight were won by golfers who had won, or would go on to win, multiple majors.
In other words, we’re looking for the best of the best.
Scottie Scheffler is exceptional at the moment, there is no doubt about that, but his price is very short.
Rory McIlroy is struggling with his driver and Jon Rahm, despite good signs in the PGA Championship, has still been a little off his best in recent times.
That makes DeChambeau the pick.
He’s currently striping it off the tee and that will go a long way towards helping him defend the title this week.
He’s finished top six in the last five American majors and has been first at some point in the week in his last five starts.
He’s 7/1 to win with Ladbrokes.

Harris English each way
This year Harris English has finished T12th in the Masters (his best finish at Augusta National) and second in the PGA Championship (also his best finish in that event).
Now it is time for the major championship he likes best of all.
He’s played it nine times and never missed the cut.
He was fourth at Winged Foot in 2020, third at Torrey Pines in 2021, and eighth at LA CC in 2023.
He was also a winner this January – at Torrey Pines – so that’s excellent form on a US Open-hosting course.
He was even T12th last time out at Muirfield Village which is also his best finish on that course.
He’s this week’s value each way option at 66/1 with Betfred paying eight places.

Xander Schauffele top 20
2024’s two-time major champion Xander Schauffele has struggled for form this year.
Despite that, he does have four top 20s in his last six starts and he was eighth at the Masters.
Oakmont will be a tough test this week and will have beaten many golfers before they tee off.
Schauffele will not be among them.
He has played in eight US Opens and finished top 20 in all of them.
When he finished T28th in the PGA Championship he was one shot outside the top 20.
That result broke a run of 12 straight top 20 finishes in the majors.
