Fairport Canal Days closes out with rubber duck race ...Middle East

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — The 48th annual Fairport Canal Days closed out on Sunday with an iconic tradition, the rubber duck race.

Organizers dumped hundreds of rubber ducks into the canal to see which one was the fastest. The race is a fundraiser to support public art initiatives and other community projects in Fairport. The top prize for entering the winning duck was $1,000.

    This year’s Fairport Canal Days coincided with the 200th season of the Erie Canal. News10NBC is your Canal Bicentennial Headquarters, celebrating how the canal changed the landscape, economy, and recreation of the region, including Fairport.
