Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte finalising deal for stacked three-fight Saudi bill

Moses Itauma is reportedly in the process of finalising a deal to face fellow countryman Dillian Whyte this summer.

According to Ring Magazine, the Brits are set to duke it out in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on August 16.

They will headline a Riyadh Season event with Nick Ball defending his WBA featherweight title against Australia’s Sam Goodman in the chief support slot.

Ball (22-0-1) is set to make his third defence of the black and gold strap after snatching the belt from Raymond Ford last June.

Goodman (20-0) is ranked No.1 by the IBF and WBO at super bantamweight and had a fight fall through with undisputed 122lbs king Naoya Inoue on Christmas Eve after suffering a cut in sparring.

He hasn’t fought at featherweight since 2021 when he stopped Nort Beauchamp in Sydney.

Elsewhere on the bill, Anthony Cacace takes on the aforementioned Ford at 130lbs in an excellent 50-50 scrap to polish off a stacked three-fight main card.

Main eventer Whyte was due to return to the ring this weekend on the undercard of Fabio Wardley‘s homecoming clash with Justis Huni at Ipswich’s Portman Road.

However, Queensberry Promotions chief Frank Warren confirmed earlier this week that ‘The Bodysnatcher’ had withdrawn from the bill after being presented with a ‘big fight’ in August.

“He’s not going to be on the card now because he has had the opportunity of a big fight in August,” Warren told BoxNation.

“We are looking at the moment to get that over the line.

“It is a big fight for him, so that is going to take priority.

“He wants that. He wants a bigger fight than he would have got at Ipswich. It is a really big fight.”

There were rumours initially circulating online that Lawrence Okolie was set to be Whyte’s dance partner.

But the ‘big opportunity’ will instead come in the way of the hottest prospect in heavyweight boxing, Itauma.

The Chatham southpaw laid waste to former NFL linebacker Mike Balogun last May and will now take a big step up in competition against former world title challenger, Whyte.

Whyte has boxed twice since being cleared by the Texas Boxing Commission for his failed drug test ahead of his rematch with Anthony Joshua.

He stopped Christian Hammer in three rounds last March and then retired Ebenezer Tetteh on his stool in seven stanzas nine months later.

A bout with Joe Joyce was subsequently booked for April 5 in Manchester, but Whyte was forced out of the contest with a finger injury, as first reported by talkSPORT.com.

After a frustrating 2025, the opportunity to box WBO No. 1-ranked heavyweight Itauma will come as a welcome change of fortunes for Whyte.
