Berhampur: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has submitted an urgent memorandum to the Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M, expressing outrage over the abduction and alleged gang rape of two minor cousins under Golanthara Police Station’s jurisdiction .
According to reports, the victims aged 11 and 15, were abducted on the night of June 3, 2025, after attending a marriage function. The perpetrators, including at least one individual known to a victim, lured the girls away from their families, took them to a secluded location, and subjected them to brutal sexual assault.
The traumatized minors managed to return home the following morning and reported the ordeal, leading to a formal complaint lodged at Golanthara Police Station on Thursday.
The incident, described as a “barbaric act,” has sparked widespread concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the district.
“This heinous crime underscores the urgent need to protect women and children in our district,” the memorandum stated, urging the SP to act decisively to restore public confidence and prevent future atrocities.
The BJD has demanded expedited investigation, enhanced patrols, better intelligence, and public sensitization to ensure justice and prevent such crimes.
The BJD has called for immediate and stringent measures, emphasizing that robust policing and citizen safety must be the Police’s top priority.
