In Nashville on Wednesday night (June 4), Billboard held its annual Country Power Players event to honor some of the best in country music today.
Country superstar Garth Brooks, 63, was on hand to present the award for Executive of the Year to Stacy Vee. While introducing her, he gave an interesting speech.
"It's an honor to be here. It's an honor to honor this person. I'm here to present the Billboard's Executive of the Year to Miss Stacy Vee tonight. I love Miss Stacy. Everybody that knows her knows why," said Brooks.
He continued, "I got about 90 seconds up here, so let's just cut to the chase. Everything that is a blessing is a curse, and everything that is a curse is a blessing. The curse in this business, like so many businesses — a female needs to work a thousand times harder than a male to get a tenth as much as the male gets. That's just how it is, always been.
"But the blessing on that, I think that's what makes Dolly Parton, Dolly Parton. I think that's what, and I was first-hand watching this, is what makes Reba McEntire, Reba McEntire. You can't outwork her. I'm married to one of the greatest singers of any format, and I watch her every day work a thousand times harder than me to get a tenth as much as they give me."
Brooks has been married to fellow country singer Trisha Yearwood since 2005.

Brooks ended by saying, "So with that, I think that kind of describes Stacy. But the thing with her that sets her apart from anybody else, she makes her own conviction. She truly believes where she's going, she knows where she's going. So I'm trying not to make this a gender thing, so there'll be no comments about who has a bigger pair of balls, her or more men in this industry, 'cause it's no competition. But the thing that I wanna say is it is my honor to present the Billboard Executive of the Year to a sweet, sweet soul, Miss Stacy Vee."
Vee then took the stage and thanked Billboard for the award, making sure to recognize all of the people who helped make her who she is.
"This is an example of what I love so much about working in this genre and working in this vibrant community here in Nashville. It just goes to show you that anything is possible, and I'm so grateful to Billboard for this award. I'm so grateful to so many people who have championed me, many of whom are in this room — agents, managers, artists, my team at AEG, my team who works so hard on all of the events I produce. I get to stand up here and accept this, but I represent so many people's hard work who carry out my vision," said Vee.

Vee works for AEG, a sports and entertainment company that produces live events and experiences for fans.
In 2024, Brooks was accused of sexual assault and battery by a hair and makeup stylist who used to work for Brooks and Yearwood. Brooks has said that he is the "victim of a shakedown" from a "malicious scheme to blackmail" him for "millions of dollars," according to the countersuit obtained by People.
In the original suit filed by Roe, she claimed the country singer raped her on a trip to Los Angeles for a Grammy event. She also said Brooks exposed himself to her, spoke openly to her about his sexual fantasies and sent her sexually explicit text messages.

Brooks has not appeared in public much since the accusations arose, though he did make a surprise appearance with Luke Combs at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in late April.
