Iconic 90s Child Star Looks Unrecognizable After Hair Transformation

At just 15 years old, Amanda Seyfried kicked off her acting career with roles in the hit soap operas As the World Turns and All My Children.

Since her debut in the late ’90s, Seyfried, 39, has become a household name, starring in fan favorites like Mean Girls and Mamma Mia!

However, if you're familiar with the actress, her latest Instagram post might make you do a double take.

Known for her signature long blonde hair, Seyfried surprised fans on Tuesday, June 3, by sharing a selfie that revealed a dramatic new hairstyle.

In the Instagram photo, her long locks are seemingly pulled back, showing off blunt, choppy bangs. Her hair color also appears darker — more of a bronde than her usual light blonde.

Fans quickly took to social media to react to the dramatic change, but Seyfried offered some context behind the hairdo.

In the caption, she noted she was sharing behind-the-scenes shots from the set of Long Bright River, a Peacock crime drama she stars in. "First slide is a flashback idea that we cut out of the gate,” she explained.

Turns out, the hairstyle was just for the role — so her signature look isn’t going anywhere.

For those who still believe the hairstyle in the photo is her new permanent look — rest assured, it’s not.

On Monday, June 2, Seyfried attended a screening of I Don’t Understand You in New York, and her red carpet photos told a different story. Bangs weren't present, but her usual blonde was.

This isn’t the first time the actress has switched things up. At the 2024 Met Gala, she surprised fans with intricate, silver S-shaped curls that matched her metallic gown.
