This year’s WCWS has also produced 2 of the 3 most-watched pre-finals WCWS games on record, ESPN says. Over 2 million viewers tuned in on Sunday to watch UCLA battle Tennessee on ABC. On Saturday, 1.7 million viewers watched Texas defeat rival Oklahoma in a crucial winner’s bracket matchup.
In the semifinals, 1.6 million people watched Ni’Jaree Canady and Texas Tech dethrone Oklahoma. The Sooners had won the last 4 National Championships prior to losing on Monday. Prior to ESPN, it’s the 2nd-largest audience ever for non-finals weekday game at the Women’s College World Series.
