(KRON) -- A fatal crash on Interstate 580 in Livermore shut down all eastbound traffic early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The right and center lanes remain blocked as of 5:20 a.m.
CHP officers responded to the report of a collision around 2:41 a.m. involving a motorcyclist and a big rig just west of the Highway 84 overpass. As a result of the collision, the big rig became engulfed in fire, a CHP incident log showed.
Further details on the crash and fatality were not immediately available.
The two left eastbound lanes were reopened just before 5 a.m. Crews are working to clean up oil in the remaining blocked lanes.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternative routes. There is no estimated time to reopen all lanes.
