Shortly after she died, a friend of Bach-Hasselhoff spoke with People magazine, telling the outlet that the actress was still dealing with lingering injuries from a 2003 motorcycle crash.
"That plagued her — the arthritis from it. Because that stuff catches up to you when you get older — injuries that are [from] earlier, arthritis sets in … Pam's body was ravaged from arthritis caused by the accident. It continued to spread and wreak havoc," Terry Ahern said.
Ahern also noted that Bach-Hasselhoff was the "kindest person" and her death was completely unexpected.
"She was the last person in the world I would think [would do that]," Ahern said.
Hasselhoff and his now-ex met on the set of Knight Rider. They tied the knot in 1989 and welcomed daughters Taylor, 34, and Hayley, 32, before their 2006 divorce.
