A SWAT standoff Monday morning, at a home followed by a search in the National City area, involved a suspect connected with an alleged stabbing that put at least one person in the hospital Sunday night.
Officers were first dispatched at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday to the victim, who was being treated for apparent stab wounds at Paradise Valley Hospital in an unspecified condition, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Law enforcement ended up near the intersection of Winchester St. and Rachael Ave., where the suspect was reportedly inside a home near the border of Paradise Hills, SDPD said.
It was unclear what prompted the stabbing that led to the standoff.
Rachael AvenuePolice officials said they attempted to draw out the suspect from the residence, but that after an hour without a response discovered the suspect was not in the home.
Law enforcement was searching the area.
Road closures continued to be in effect between Cumberland St. and Blueridge St. during the search. Police urged the public to avoid the area.
