Elijah Williams, the son of former Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams, committed to Baylor on Monday, the small forward told On3.
The 2026 four-star recruit out of TMI Episcopal in San Antonio, Texas, is ranked 35th nationally and fourth in his state, according to 247 Sports’ composite ratings.
In addition to Baylor, Williams received offers from Arizona, Kansas, Alabama, Oregon and Notre Dame, among others.
With choosing the Big 12 school, Williams, who suited up for Scottsdale Christian Academy as a freshman and played club ball in the state, will face both Arizona and Arizona State.
What is former Suns coach Monty Williams up to these days?
While Williams is currently out of the NBA, he’s still around the game as the head coach of his son’s team at TMI Episcopal. Williams has been in that role since 2024.

Suns fans will remember Williams from his four-year stint in Phoenix that included an NBA Finals run in 2020-21 and NBA Coach of the Year honors in 2021-22.
His time with the Suns would soon come to a close, though, with Phoenix — under new owner Mat Ishbia — moving on from Williams in 2023 after another abbreviated playoff run.
Williams went on to sign a massive six-year deal with the Detroit Pistons but only lasted a season in Motor City before the team fired the head coach. He went 14-68 in the lone year with Detroit.
