San Jose police said an officer intercepted a copper theft near San Felipe Road and Meadowlands Lane early Saturday morning. A man was cutting overhead phone lines and placing them inside plastic bags along the roadside.
Police located a man hiding in a nearby brush. SJPD said the suspect was in possession of a bag of heavy-duty wire cutters and more empty bags.
A woman was waiting in a getaway car, according to police.
The duo was arrested for grand theft, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. Suspected methamphetamine was found on the female suspect, police said.
