It’s been one year since General Hospital star Johnny Wactor was shot and killed.
The actor known for playing Brando Corbin on the ABC soap was murdered on May 25, 2024, as he protected his co-worker. Wactor’s death rocked the GH community hard and still does today.
Bradford Anderson and Steve Burton remembered Wactor via their official Stone Cold and the Jackal Instagram page on the first anniversary of his death.
“Remembering Johnny Wactor (August 31,1986 – May 25, 2024) ?️ We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Johnny Wactor, best known to soap fans for his unforgettable role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital. Johnny brought a quiet strength, raw emotion, and deep humanity to every scene he graced — transforming Brando into a beloved character whose impact far outlived his screen time,” read part of the caption.
Several photos of Wactor during his time on General Hospital were also included in the tribute.
The caption on the Instagram shared ended with “His passing has left a void in the daytime community and in the hearts of fans who cherished not just his talent, but the man he was. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.”

Wactor was 37 when he was shot and killed while leaving his bartending job. The actor was walking with a co-worker when he caught three men in the process of stealing the catalytic converter from his car. Waxtor was shot in the chest after stepping in front of his worker to protect her from the men.
Four men were arrested and convicted in the soap star’s shocking death. They were all sentenced in January.
