THE Indiana Fever head coach blasted a sequence involving Caitlin Clark during the team’s loss to the New York Liberty.
The defending champion Liberty’s 90-88 win on Saturday afternoon ended in a controversial way.
The score was tied at 88 with 2.9 seconds left when Indiana’s Lexie Hull fouled Liberty star Sabriana Ionescu, who made both free throws to take the lead.
The Fever had one last possession to try and tie or win the contest, and Clark received the ball on the inbounds pass.
The 2024 Rookie of the Year couldn’t get a shot off in the final seconds as the Liberty escaped with the victory.
However, it appeared that Natasha Cloud had fouled Clark, who complained to the refs that there wasn’t a foul on the play.
After the game, Fever coach Stephanie White told reporters that not only did she think Clark got fouled, but the no-call was just another example of the continued treatment her team has received in the still very-young season.
White also noted that Indiana’s opposing teams have shot 31 more free throws over the last three contests.
“I thought she got fouled,” White said. “I think it’s pretty egregious what’s been happening to us the last few games.
“A minus-31 free-throw discrepancy.
“And I might be able to understand it if we were just chucking threes, but we’re not.
“We’re attacking the rim. And the disrespect right now for our team has been pretty unbelievable.
“So it’s disappointing that it doesn’t go both ways or that it hasn’t gone both ways, but we also can’t allow that to consume us right?
“We’ve gotta be able to play through that.”
Fans reacted to the no-call on Clark as well as White’s choice of words after the loss.
“Clark definitely got fouled,” one wrote.
“White ain’t lying,” another commented.

The Fever were up 12 points heading into the fourth quarter before squandering their lead.
They are now 2-2 for the season.
Clark is currently averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists, and 6 rebounds per game.
They will face the Liberty again on June 14 in Indianapolis.
