Grammy-winning artist D'Angelo left fans feeling disappointed when he had no choice but to cancel an upcoming appearance for medical reasons.
"It is with the deepest of regrets that [I] must cancel my performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia next weekend," a message from the singer-songwriter read. "But, due to an unforeseen medical delay regarding surgery [I] had earlier this year, [I've] been advised by my team of specialist[s] that the performance this weekend could further complicate matters."
"It is nearly impossible to express how disappointed [I am] not to be able to play with my Brothers 'The Roots.' And even more disappointed not to see all of You. [I'm] so thankful to my beautiful fans for continuing to rock with me and [I] Thank u for your continued support," he concluded.
"I’m sorry guys," Questlove told fans when he reshared the news from the Roots Picnic, a music festival organized by the late-night personality's hip-hop band. "...We’re sending love and keeping him in our thoughts as he continues to heal!"
D'Angelo teased new projects to come, though, and promised he'd "see [fans] very soon."

While fans were sad to hear of the cancelation, with several commenting that he was the main reason they were planning to attend the festival, most were more than understanding.
One replied, "Get well soon. You gotta take care of yourself. ??."
"Praying for your recovery, who cares about the performance health comes first," another wrote.
Many also took the opportunity to joke about an apparent error with the musician's keyboard while typing his message, as many of the "I"s were replaced with "@"s.
"W@shing you well ❤️," one quipped, while another agreed, "@ am sad but @‘m wishing D a speedy, d@v@ne recovery."
It's unknown what D'Angelo recently underwent surgery for.
