Sarah Silverman is making sure her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel, will be a prepared grandpa.
On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' this week, the actress and comedian, who previously dated Kimmel, 57, brought some "grandpa gifts" while appearing on his late night show this week, just after he announced that his oldest daughter had a baby.
The "gifts" which Silverman, 54, carried out in a small plastic bag included a safety pin, a penny, a button, and a piece of candy. She also brought him a fake photo of himself dressed in military fatigues.
"You're a grandpa now, you need to be a hero," she said. "You can't just be a veteran of [radio station] K-Rock.
Kimmel and Silverman dated from 2002 to 2009. Kimmel shares Katie, 33, and son Kevin, 31, with his first wife Gina Maddy. He is currently married to writer Molly McNearney and the two are parents to Jane, 10, and Billy 8.
But even after all this time, Kimmel visibly still gets a kick out of the fact that he dated Silverman and couldn't help but ask her feelings about his new title.

"What are you thinking of the fact that you once dated a man who's now a grandfather?" he asked.
"I mean it's a bummer, but you've always been older than me," she joked.
Silverman has been in a relationship with Rory Albanese since 2020.
